In 2003 she was one of a selected group of leading Canadian women entrepreneurs chosen to participate on the Prime Minister's task force on women entrepreneurs. This ground breaking initiative brought in legislative changes that directly affected the lives of over 800,000 women entrepreneurs in Canada.
As the company’s success and reputation grew, Elen has been sought out as a dynamic keynote speaker to women’s and business groups. She excels at motivating the audience with her positive “can do” attitude and a humorous look back at her own journey to success.
From an “at-home” promotions business start up in 1987, Elen has grown the company into an International credit card marketing powerhouse, partnering with every major bank in the country. SPP has enrolled over 3 million Canadians for prestigious credit card and financial products and continues to be the leading provider of credit card marketing services in Canada.
Having attended Carleton School of Journalism and graduating from Concordia University in communications, Elen worked briefly with CBC-Pulse news in Montreal as a researcher. Her career took her to Toronto where she continued working on freelance journalism assignments for CTV-Canada AM, TV Ontario and as a spokesperson for CHIN-TV.
It was while working on a public relations promotion at a trade fair, she realized an opportunity to provide professional spokesperson services to educate the public, demonstrate products and promote companies at trade shows and events. An Entrepreneur was born and Elen has never looked back.
Elen is passionate about giving back to the community through philanthropy and personal time. She supports many charities such as: Variety Village, POGO – children’s cancer foundation, Hospital for Sick Kids, Pencer Brain Trust Foundation, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, UJA federation. She has volunteered her time for Gems of Hope, helping women in the developing world start their own businesses, and has built a treatment centre and school for the Orr Shalom foundation for abused children.
